Romans 2:21
O: Paul, speaking directly to the Jews who carried a 'holier-than-thou' attitude towards the Gentiles, hits a hard point in how people are always willing to teach while not following up with the very teachings they present-in other words, hypocrisy. We must always be careful to always follow that which what we teach to others-I'm planning to teach all that I've learned about becoming a worship leader to a few people in the church and I would lose all credibility and respect if I did not exemplify the very beliefs that I advocate and encourage. Worst of all, such a way of going about things tears apart the church by bringing disunity between "teachers" and students (James 3:1 - Those who teach will be scrutinized strictly).
A: As I feel the Lord calling me to handle His Word with a greater reverence, I need to be meticulous in making sure that there is no fault in me when I teach-that I believe what I teach, practice what I teach, and of course, understand what I teach.
P: Lord, thank You for this Word. Today, you have been incredibly gracious and as You always are-You have been faithful. Thank You for giving me the strength to get through the days work and I ask that you continually push me forward on Your path. Through what you have said, I pray that I would approach Your Word with the utmost care and respect-that my errors and own man-made ideas spells out a life and death situation for those who hear my words, whether it be through devotionals, small group, etc-Teach me and guide me in the ways of wisdom. May Your Holy Spirit illuminate anything that I may not fully understand and may Your Spirit also empower me to teach Your truths with authority and clarity. In Christ, amen.
Soli Deo Gloria
