Soap - Standing Before Governors and Kings

S: Agrippa replied to Paul, "In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian." And Paul said, "I would wish to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains."

Acts 26:28-29

...and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But then they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speaks, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

Matthew 10:18-20

O: Paul having gone through several important people (Felix and Festus, the governors of Judea, King Agrippa and not to mention the Jewish Council that wanted nothing but Paul's death), reminded greatly of a verse (above) in Matthew. Paul, expressing his belief in the resurrection of the dead, somehow wound up before governors and kings for the sake of Christ. I can see that in all situations, Paul was placed in a favorable position to testify about Jesus Christ-to rulers and such that held great influence over their country. To top it off, other than the Jewish leaders, no one found any fault in Paul (why should they?) and instead were much more swayed towards the Gospel.

A: I can't imagine being trailed by a religious group wanting my blood-nor could I even imagine giving my testimony to kings and governors. But what I do know is that I must hold fast to my faith in all circumstances-Paul persevered through trials and false accusations, only to magnify God's glory and name. One day, I just may become a famous musician-I may stand before great and influential people: but even if that were not to happen, I must continue to share my faith, as God will do His great work in faithfulness.

P: Father, forgive my lack of faith. By Your grace and Christ's sacrifice, I am forgiven. Thank you for today and for pressing on in my heart-I pray that I would never forsake Your name. Rather, I hope to see that I would be bold, like Paul, in sharing my faith as well as expressing it with the same courage and authority. Use me, God! I may not have much, but I have faith that my deficiencies can and shall be overcome by the Almighty-do as You will. In Christ, amen.
