Soap - Unwavering Faith in Craziness

S: "...he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God"

Romans 4:20

O: When God promised that Sarah was going to have a child, Abraham held onto his faith and remembered that God kept His promises. Abraham was credited with faith and that is what justified him. I used to wonder how people in the OT could be saved as Christ had not yet been born into this world. Later, I realized that they still had faith in God the Father-where I can see how God judged men by looking at their hearts, as He still does now. Paul speaks yet again about how we are justified by faith.

A: It was absurd for Sarah to have a child at her age and yet Abraham, knowing that it was most unlikely, believed in God nonetheless, "giving glory to God." Even in the most ludicrous moments, God is still in control-still gracious (when Sarah heard that she was to have a child she laughed because she did not believe) and still forgiving. Limiting God to what we believe is possible is an insult to Him and I would do well never to put Him in a box.

P: God, You can do anything! Your power and might is far beyond this world's understanding and I pray that I may have a greater faith in Your strength. For when I am weak (pretty much everyday), I pray that you would give me strength. When I am wavering, be my ever-constant foundation-that I may not fall. Would you bring about even more ridiculous things in my life that my faith in You would only grow stronger? I know it will be tough, but I pray that my dependence would only be upon You so that the glory would never be for me. In Christ, amen.

Soli Deo Gloria
