Luke 6:40
O: Clearly discipleship is a must in the kingdom of God. This was in the middle of the parable told by Jesus about the blind leading the blind and not being hypocritical about addressing minute things in others, while having our own issues that are far more alarming.
A disciple should be teachable-respect for our teachers is necessary to learn. Where would we be if we thought we knew everything before we turned to the Word or to our mentors? Humility goes hand in hand with receiving instruction from God or those who are further along in their walk with God.
The last portion of this verse is particularly important and very clear. A disciple of a false teacher will clearly result in the outcome of a disciple that will carry false teachings and disciplines (or lack thereof). However, a faithful teacher who constantly prays and reads the Word will result in disciples that follow suit in the likeness of that particular faithful follower. For teachers, it is especially important to be what we want our students to be.
A: I want my students to be faithful to God. I want them to be centered on Jesus all throughout their lives-I want them to be faithful in prayer...through personal prayer, intercessory prayer, and corporate prayer. I want them to love Scripture as spiritual food to a deeper extent than real food. So, I will be faithful to God. I will be centered on Jesus throughout my life. I must be faithful to pray for myself, others, and with others. I must love Scripture for what is truly is-life sustaining/giving AWESOMENESS. Yay Jesus :]
